Joel: I started photography in late 2018, purchasing a camera mainly for shooting videos and my family gatherings. I started taking behind-the-scenes pictures for our YouTube short films and started with family portrait photography. After trying to do lots of research on what I was doing, I came across lots of YouTube channels that made it look like a lot of fun. I was always good and using point-and-shoot cameras, but once I got a DSLR, I was completely clueless! It took lots of practice, lots of trial and error, and lots of growing pains. Song the way, Ana also practiced with the camera, and has had a natural eye for photography! The style we both shoot is mainly dramatic lighting using off-camera flash, for darker scenes with a bright, popping subject. We do portrait, family, engagement, wedding, boudoir, and other events. We have experienced lots of positivity and support from our photographer peers, and appreciate all the help, tips, and support we’ve received from the community! We run a YouTube channel and are hoping to use it to do more fun little “challenges” with other photographers, and also showing some behind the scenes from our shoots!
